Introduction to the LPR Rate:

1. The LPR (Loan Prime Rate) is China’s benchmark for loan interest rates. It is calculated and published by the National Interbank Funding Center under the authorization of the People’s Bank of China.

2. LPR stands for "Loan Prime Rate" and is a key outcome of China’s interest rate marketization reform.

3. The LPR is calculated by taking the arithmetic mean of the loan rates quoted by 18 representative banks for their most creditworthy customers, after excluding the highest and lowest quotes. It is published once a month on the 20th (postponed if it falls on a holiday).

4. The LPR comprises two categories: the 1-year term and the 5-year or longer term, which are used for pricing short-term and medium- to long-term loans, respectively.
