About calculating powers:

1. Basic definition of a power: Let a be a number and n a positive integer. The nth power of a is denoted as a^n, representing the result of multiplying a by itself n times. Example: 2⁴ = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 16.

2. The definition of a power can also be extended to include the 0th power, negative powers, and so on.

3. When entering mathematical formulas on a computer, since it is inconvenient to type the exponent symbol, the "^" symbol is often used to denote a power. Example: 2 to the 5th power can be written as 2^5.
