บทนำเกี่ยวกับปีอธิกสุรทินและเดือนอธิกมาส:

1. ปีอธิกสุรทินและเดือนอธิกวารเป็นสองแนวคิดที่แตกต่างกัน โดยเกี่ยวข้องกับวิธีการคำนวณของปฏิทินสุริยคติ (ปฏิทินเกรกอเรียน) และปฏิทินจันทรคติ (ปฏิทินเกษตรกรรม) ตามลำดับ

2. ปีอธิกมาสหมายถึงปีพิเศษในปฏิทินเกรกอเรียนที่ออกแบบมาเพื่อให้ปีปฏิทินสอดคล้องกับปีทางดาราศาสตร์ ในปีอธิกมาส เดือนกุมภาพันธ์จะมี 29 วัน ในขณะที่ปีปกติเดือนกุมภาพันธ์จะมีเพียง 28 วัน

3. เดือนอธิกเดือนคือเดือนพิเศษในปฏิทินจันทรคติของจีน ซึ่งถูกนำมาใช้เพื่อปรับความแตกต่างของเวลา ระหว่างปีจันทรคติกับปีสุริยคติ ปฏิทินจันทรคติเป็นปฏิทินจันทรคติ-สุริยคติ ที่ผสมผสานระหว่างระยะของดวงจันทร์กับตำแหน่งของดวงอาทิตย์
