Introduction to the Water Hardness Calculator:

1. This tool calculates water hardness by determining the concentration of divalent cations in the water.

2. Chemical Components:

(1) Ca2+: Calcium ion

(2) Mg2+: Magnesium ion

(3) Fe2+: Ferrous ion

(4) Sr²⁺: Strontium ion

(5) Mn²⁺: Manganese ion

3. Water Hardness Chart:

(1) 0–75 => Soft

(2) 75–150 => Moderately hard

(3) 150–300 => Hard

(4) 300 and above => Very hard

3. Calculation formula: (in mg/L) as CaCO3 = M2+ (mg/L) × (100 g/mol CaCO3 / atomic weight of M2+)

(1) Hardness: Refers to the concentration of divalent cations in water, typically expressed as CaCO3 in mg/L.

(2) M2+: Refers to divalent cations in water, such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe2+, Sr2+, Mn2+, etc.

(3) mg/L: Refers to the number of milligrams per liter of water; this is the unit of hardness.

(4) 100 g/mol CaCO₃: Refers to the molar mass of calcium carbonate, measured in grams per mole.

(5) Atomic weight of M²⁺: Refers to the atomic mass of divalent cations, measured in grams per mole.

4. The calculations provided by this tool are for reference only; please rely on measurements from professional equipment.
