The son said, "A scholar who is harboring a dwelling is not enough to be a scholar."
The son said, "When a state has a way, dangerous words and deeds are spoken; when a state has no way, dangerous deeds and deeds are spoken and grandchildren are born."
Zi said, "Those who have virtue must have words; those who have words need not have virtue. Those who are benevolent must be courageous, and those who are courageous need not be benevolent."
南宫适问于孔子曰:“羿善射,奡荡舟,俱不得其死然;禹、稷躬稼而有天下。”夫子不答。南宫适出,子曰:“君子哉若人!尚德哉若人!”
The son said, "The gentleman and not benevolent has been there, there is no small man and benevolent."
The Son said, "If you love, can you not labor? If you are loyal, can you not teach?"
Zi said, "For the order, Beneficent Chen drafted it, Uncle Shih discussed it, Pedestrian Zi Yu trimmed it, and Dong Li Zi Yan embellished it."
或问子产,子曰:“惠人也。”问子西,曰:“彼哉,彼哉!”问管仲,曰:“人也。夺伯氏骈邑三百,饭疏食,没齿无怨言。”
The Son said, "It is difficult to be poor without resentment, but easy to be rich without pride."
Zi said, "If Meng Gongchuo is Zhao and Wei's old man, he is superior, but he cannot be Teng and Xue's doctor."
Zi Lu问成人,子曰:“若臧武仲之知、公绰之不欲、卞庄子之勇、冉求之艺,文之以礼乐,亦可以为成人矣。”曰:“今之成人者何必然?见利思义,见危授命,久要不忘平生之言,亦可以为成人矣。”
子问公叔文子于公明贾曰:“信乎,夫子不言,不笑,不取乎?”公明贾对曰:“以告者过也。夫子时然后言,人不厌其言;乐然后笑,人不厌其笑;义然后取,人不厌其取。”子曰:“其然?岂其然乎?”
Zi said, "Zang Wuzhong in defense of seeking to be a queen in Lu, although said do not want the king, I do not believe it."
The son said, "Duke Wen of Jin was treacherous but not correct; Duke Huan of Qi was correct but not treacherous."
Zi Lu曰:“桓公杀公子纠,召忽死之,管仲不死,曰未仁乎?”子曰:“桓公九合诸侯不以兵车,管仲之力也。如其仁,如其仁!”
子贡曰:“管仲非仁者与?桓公杀公子纠,不能死,又相之。”子曰:“管仲相桓公霸诸侯,一匡天下,民到于今受其赐。微管仲,吾其被发左衽矣。岂若匹夫匹妇之为谅也,自经于沟渎而莫之知也。”
Duke Wenzi's minister, Dafu, had read and accepted the promotion of Wenzi to the same rank as all the other dukes, and when he heard about it, he said, "You can be 'Wen' now."
子言Wei Linggong (c. 1267-1294), Tang Dynasty poet之无道也,康子曰:“夫如是,奚而不丧?”孔子曰:“仲叔圉治宾客,祝鮀治宗庙,王孙贾治军旅,夫如是,奚其丧?”
The Son said, "If his words are not subterfuge, it is difficult for him to do them."
陈成子弑简公,孔子沐浴而朝,告于哀公曰:“陈恒弑其君,请讨之。”公曰:“告夫三子。”,孔子曰:“以吾从大夫之后,不敢不告也,君曰‘告夫三子’者!”之三子告,不可。孔子曰:“以吾从大夫之后,不敢不告也。”
Zi Lu asked about serving the ruler, and Zi said, "Do not deceive, but commit a crime."
The Son said, "The gentleman reaches up, the villain reaches down."
Zi said, "In ancient times, scholars were scholars for themselves, but today scholars are scholars for others."
蘧伯玉使人于孔子,孔子与之坐而问焉,曰:“夫子何为?”对曰:“夫子欲寡其过而未能也。”使者出,子曰:“使乎!使乎!”
Zi said, "If you are not in your position, you do not seek to do anything." Zeng Zi said, "A gentleman does not think out of his place."
The Son said, "A gentleman is ashamed of his words and oversteps his actions."
Zi said, "There are three ways of a gentleman's way, and I am incapable of doing them: a benevolent man does not worry, a knowledgeable man does not confuse, and a courageous man does not fear." Zi Gong said, "The husband's own way is also."
When Zigong squared the people, Zi said, "Is it wise to give also? If I am, I am not flawed."
The Son said, "Do not suffer from people who do not know themselves, but from those who cannot."
The son said, "Not against deceit, not a hundred million do not believe, or also the first to realize that the person, is virtuous!"
Weisheng mu said to Confucius, "Qiu why is the perchers with? Not for sycophants?" Confucius said: "Not dare for sycophant also, disease solid also."
The Son said, "A steed is not called by its strength, but by its virtue."
Or he said, "What is the best way to repay kindness with kindness?" The Son said, "What is it like to repay a grudge with virtue? To repay a grudge with straightness, and to repay a grudge with virtue."
子曰:“莫我知也夫!”子贡曰:“何为其莫知子也?”子曰:“不怨天,不尤人,下by extension, learning from上达。知我者其天乎!”
公伯寮愬Zi Lu于季孙。子服景伯以告,曰:“夫子固有惑志于公伯寮,吾力犹能肆诸市朝。”子曰:“道之将行也与,命也;道之将废也与,命也。公伯寮其如命何?”
The Son said, "The wise man opens up the world, followed by the earth, followed by color, followed by speech." The Son said, "The author of seven is carried on."
Zi Lu stayed at the stone gate, and the morning gate said, "Xi from?" Zi Lu said, "From Kong." Said: "Is it know it is not possible to do it with?"
子击磬于卫,有荷蒉而过孔氏之门者,曰:“有心哉,击磬乎!”既而曰:“鄙哉,硁硁乎!莫己知也,斯己而已矣。深则厉,浅则揭。”子曰:“果哉!末之难矣。”
Zi Zhang (son of Zeus)曰:“《书》云,‘高宗谅阴,三年不言。’何谓也?”子曰:“何必高宗,古之人皆然。君薨,百官总己以听于冢宰三年。”
The son said, "If the superior is good at manners, the people are easy to make."
Zi Lu问君子,子曰:“修己以敬。”曰:“如斯而已乎?”曰:“修己以安人。”曰:“如斯而已乎?”曰:“修己以安百姓。修己以安百姓,尧、舜其犹病诸!”
The original soil razed once, the son said: "young and not Sun Di, long and no description, old and not dead, is a thief!" Knocked his shin with a staff.
阙党童子将命,或问之曰:“益者与?”子曰:“吾见其居于位也,见其与先生并行也。非求益者也,欲速成者也。”

孔子说:“在政治清明的时候,接受俸禄是应该的;在政治黑暗的时候,如果还像在清明时那样接受俸禄,这就是可耻的。”
有人问:“克制、攻击、怨恨、欲望这些品行都做不到,能算是仁人吗?”孔子说:“这可以说是很难做到了,但至于是否达到仁,我就不知道了。”
Confucius said, "A scholar who covets a life of ease and comfort is not worthy to be called a scholar."
Confucius said, "When the country is politically clear, be upright in speech and behavior; when the country is politically dark, be upright in behavior and humble in speech."
孔子说:“有德行的人一定有好的言论,但有好的言论的人不一定有德行。仁德的人一定勇敢,但勇敢的人不一定有仁德。”
南宫适问孔子:“羿擅长射箭,奡能倒行逆施,但最终都没得到好下场;而禹和后稷亲自耕种,却得到了天下。”孔子没有回答。南宫适离开后,孔子说:“这个人真是个君子啊!多么崇尚德行啊!”
Confucius said, "There are unkind and virtuous people among the gentlemen, but it is impossible for there to be a kind and virtuous person among the little people."
Confucius said, "If one sincerely loves a man, how can one keep him from laboring? If one is sincerely devoted to a person, how can one not teach him?"
Confucius said, "When Zheng formulated a diplomatic speech, Beneficent Chen drafted it, Uncle Shih discussed it, the diplomat Zi Yu revised it, and Zi Chan put the final touches on it."
有人问孔子子产是个怎样的人,孔子说:“是个仁慈的人。”又问子西,孔子说:“他呀,他呀!”再问管仲,孔子说:“是个仁人。他夺取了伯氏骈邑三百户的封地,使伯氏只能吃粗粮,直到去世都没有怨言。”
Confucius said, "It is hard to be poor without resentment, but easy to be rich without pride."
Confucius said, "Meng Gongchuo was more than enough to be a vassal in the Zhao and Wei clans, but not enough to serve as a grandmaster of a small state like Teng and Xue."
Zi Lu问怎样才算完美的人,孔子说:“像臧武仲那样的智慧、孟公绰那样的清心寡欲、卞庄子那样的勇敢、冉求那样的才艺,再用礼乐加以修饰,就可以称为完美的人了。”又说:“现在所说的完美的人何必如此严格?见到利益能想到道义,遇到危险能献出生命,长期遵守诺言不忘初衷,也可以称为完美的人了。”
孔子向公明贾询问公叔文子:“听说他从不说话、不笑、不索取,是真的吗?”公明贾说:“这是传话的人说错了。他到该说话时才说,人们不厌烦他的话;高兴时才笑,人们不厌烦他的笑;合乎道义时才索取,人们不厌烦他的索取。”孔子说:“原来如此?难道真是这样吗?”
Confucius said, "Zang Wuzhong, by virtue of his defense, requested Lu to set up his descendants, and even if some say that he coerced the monarch, I do not believe it."
Confucius said, "Duke Wen of Jin was cunning and immodest, and Duke Huan of Qi was decent and not cunning."
Zi Lu说:“齐桓公杀了公子纠,召忽为此自杀,管仲却没有死,这算不仁吗?”孔子说:“齐桓公多次召集诸侯会盟而没有动用武力,这是管仲的功劳。这就是他的仁德,这就是他的仁德!”
子贡说:“管仲不是仁人吧?齐桓公杀了公子纠,他不能像召忽那样殉节,反而辅佐齐桓公。”孔子说:“管仲辅佐齐桓公称霸诸侯,匡正天下,百姓至今仍受他的恩惠。如果没有管仲,我们恐怕都成了披发左衽的蛮夷了。难道他应该像普通百姓那样拘泥小节,在沟渠中自杀而无人知晓吗?”
When Confucius heard that Dafu, a vassal of Gongshu Wenzi, had read and was promoted to be an official in the same court as Wenzi, he said, "This is enough for a posthumous title of 'Wen'."
孔子谈论Wei Linggong (c. 1267-1294), Tang Dynasty poet无道,季康子问:“既然如此,为什么国家没有败亡?”孔子说:“因为有仲叔圉接待宾客,祝鮀管理宗庙,王孙贾统率军队,像这样,国家怎么会败亡呢?”
Confucius said, "If a man speaks without shame, it is much harder for him to do this."

When Zi Lu asked how to serve his sovereign, Confucius said, "Do not deceive him, but dare to speak frankly against him."
Confucius said, "A gentleman seeks the lofty realm; a villain seeks immediate gain."
Confucius said, "Ancient scholars studied to improve themselves; present scholars study to show others."

Confucius said, "If you are not in your position, you do not seek to do your duty." Zeng Zi said, "A gentleman does not think beyond his duty."

孔子说:“君子要具备的三种品德我都没有做到:仁德的人不忧愁,智慧的人不迷惑,勇敢的人不畏惧。”子贡说:“这正是夫子在说自己啊。”
When Zigong talked about others, Confucius said, "O Chi, are you very virtuous? I have no such leisure time."
Confucius said, "Don't worry that others don't understand you, worry that you are incapable."
Confucius said, "One who does not suspect others of fraud in advance, who does not guess out of thin air that others are dishonest, but who can also detect it in time, such a person is virtuous."
微生亩对孔子说:“你为什么这么忙碌奔波?莫非是为了讨好别人吗?”孔子说:“我哪里敢讨好别人,只是痛恨那些固执的人。”
Confucius said, "What is praiseworthy in a thousand-mile horse is not its strength, but its character."
有人问:“用恩德回报仇怨,怎么样?”孔子说:“那用什么回报恩德呢?应该用正直回报仇怨,用恩德回报恩德。”
孔子说:“没有人了解我啊!”子贡问:“为什么没有人了解您呢?”孔子说:“我不抱怨天,不责怪人,学习下层的知识却能领悟上层的道理。了解我的大概只有上天吧!”
公伯寮向季孙诽谤Zi Lu,子服景伯告诉孔子:“季孙确实被公伯寮迷惑了,但我还有能力把他的尸体陈尸街头。”孔子说:“道如果能推行,是命运的安排;道如果不能推行,也是命运的安排。公伯寮能对命运怎么样呢?”
孔子说:“贤人逃避乱世,次一等的逃避坏地方,再次一等的逃避坏脸色,更次一等的逃避恶言恶语。”又说:“这样做的人已经有七位了。”
Zi Lu在石门过夜,守门人问:“从哪里来?”Zi Lu答:“从孔氏那里来。”守门人说:“是那个明知做不到却还要去做的人吧?”
孔子在卫国敲磬,有个挑着草筐的人经过门口说:“这磬声里有心思啊!”过了一会儿又说:“浅薄啊,敲得那么固执!没人理解你,就自己算了吧。水深就穿着衣服渡过,水浅就撩起衣服过去。”孔子说:“说得真干脆!以后没什么可难倒我了。”
Zi Zhang (son of Zeus)问:“《尚书》说‘商高宗守丧三年不说话’,是什么意思?”孔子说:“何止商高宗,古人都是这样。国君去世,百官三年都听命于冢宰。”
Confucius said, "When those who are in authority prefer rites, the people are easy to instruct."
Zi Lu问怎样做君子,孔子说:“修养自己,严肃认真。”Zi Lu问:“这样就行了吗?”孔子说:“修养自己,使他人安乐。”Zi Lu又问:“这样就行了吗?”孔子说:“修养自己,使百姓安乐。修养自己使百姓安乐,连尧、舜都难以做到呢!”
原壤叉腿坐着等孔子,孔子说:“年幼时不恭敬顺从,长大后没什么成就,老了还不死,真是祸害!”用拐杖敲他的小腿。
阙党的一个孩子来传话,有人问孔子:“这是个求上进的孩子吗?”孔子说:“我看见他坐在成人位子上,又和长辈并肩而行。这不是求上进,而是急于求成。”
1. I "Dialoghi" furono redatti nella prima fase del periodo degli Stati Combattenti, all'incirca tra il V e il IV secolo a.C., proprio durante l'epoca delle Primavere e degli Autunni e degli Stati Combattenti. In quel periodo la società era in fermento, i feudatari lottavano per il dominio, il pensiero era vivace e si era creata una situazione di "cento scuole in competizione".
2. Confucio (551 a.C.–479 a.C.), fondatore della scuola confuciana, si dedicò alla diffusione delle sue idee educative e dei suoi concetti etici, sostenendo che il governo dello Stato e la stabilità sociale dovessero basarsi sulla coltivazione della moralità e sulla responsabilità sociale. Dopo la sua morte, i suoi discepoli e i loro successori raccolsero i suoi discorsi, i suoi comportamenti e i dialoghi con i discepoli, sistemandoli in un libro: questo è il "Analecta".
3. Il libro dei Dialoghi è composto da 20 capitoli, scritti principalmente in forma di aphorismi e in parte in forma narrativa; il contenuto riguarda diversi ambiti quali la politica, l’etica, l’educazione, la filosofia e l’arte di vivere. Il linguaggio è conciso e ricco di significato, e trasmette la filosofia attraverso dialoghi quotidiani ed esempi concreti.
4. La compilazione dei "Dialoghi" presenta le seguenti caratteristiche:
(1) Predominanza dello stile a citazioni: le idee vengono trasmesse attraverso brevi dialoghi e citazioni; il linguaggio è semplice e comprensibile, ma il significato è profondo.
(2) Dialoghi contestualizzati: registra i dialoghi quotidiani tra Confucio e i suoi discepoli, combinando situazioni concrete per mostrare il nucleo del pensiero.
(3) Struttura frammentaria: manca di una struttura logica rigorosa, ma espone il pensiero attraverso esempi concreti, consentendo al lettore di cogliere i principi filosofici durante la lettura.
