Introduction to MAC Addresses:

1. A MAC address, also known as a physical address, hardware address, or Ethernet address, is a unique 48-bit (6-byte) serial number used to identify a network device.

2. MAC addresses are typically represented as six groups of two-digit hexadecimal numbers, separated by colons (:), hyphens (-), or periods (.).

3. MAC addresses are usually burned into the firmware of a network interface card (NIC) or embedded in the hardware of the network device.

4. In theory, every network interface card has a globally unique MAC address, and this uniqueness is managed and maintained by the IEEE.
