昙花原产墨西哥，是灌木状主茎圆筒形，木质。夏秋季晚间开大型白色花，花漏斗状，有芳香。一般是在晚上的8—9点开放，而且很短暂只有三、四个小时，顾有“昙花一现”之说。另外，昙花还有很多药用价值。
